The values-based leader

Values are the essence of who we are as human beings. They get us out of bed
every morning, help us select the work we do, the company we keep, the
relationships we build, and, ultimately, the groups and organizations we lead.
They are the constant, true and non-negotiable and
parameters for our actions, decisions and treatment of others.
They spring from with our deeper selves – our conscience, sense of truth and
self-respect, which are the fundamentals from which our capacity to lead
ourselves and others is constructed. As leaders, we can avoid the issue of
values for a while, but eventually we will come back to this simple question.
How do we take the values enshrined in our mission statements and put them into
practice?
